Uche Sparks Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Control Established from the Start

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
